However, Tanzania is a year-round safari destination, and different parks offer great wildlife experiences in all seasons.

Yes, Tanzania is considered one of Africa’s safest safari destinations. National parks are well-protected, and professional guides ensure your safety at all times. Travelers are advised to use reputable tour operators and follow common travel guidelines.

Tanzania is home to the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino—along with cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, hippos, wildebeest, hyenas, crocodiles, and over 500 bird species. The Serengeti also hosts the world-famous Great Wildebeest Migration.

Pack lightweight, neutral-colored clothing, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, a camera, and a warm layer for cool mornings and evenings. Don’t forget essential travel documents, medications, and reusable water bottles.

A typical safari lasts 5–10 days, depending on your itinerary and interests. Short 3–4 day safaris are great for first-time visitors, while longer 7–10 day safaris allow deeper exploration of Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and other parks.
